iPhone mania

So Craig bought us iPhones and we are addicted. They are pretty sweet and so far I've gotten 5 applications and they were all free. I am posting now from the phone! Sweet. Anyway I am excited for a non-busy weekend. We only have plans for a party at Tim and Jenn's tomorrow and a Mom visit on Monday. 25 school days left! Yahoo!

Believe in Boston!

Back to school this week was quite hectic. Not only was I sick,and we had our science fair, but our schedules were shifted due to our interviewing process. So, everyday I had to leave my kiddos at 11 and watch one of our candidates teach a lesson in the 5th and 6th grade classroom. After that we would chat with them and then chat with ourselves, so we didn't see our kiddos again until 12:45. It felt so odd. We did find an excellent candidate and we hope she accepts our offer. On another note, Tuesday night Craig and I went to Game 5 of the Celtics/Bulls playoffs in Boston. We were late, but it was SO MUCH FUN. We were hoping for overtime with a Celtics win and that is exactly what we got! The crowd was crazy and I had a blast. Craig asked a few of his Burlington buddies to tag along and they had fun too. We liked it SO MUCH that we scored tickets to Game 2 in Boston on Wednesday vs. Orlando Magic. I get to see JJ REDDICK!! Yahoo!! I am so excited to see him. It won't be the same as watching him in Duke blue, but it will still be cool. I was checking out his stats this morning and it looks like I will get to see him play a few minutes too! YES!!! Super excited. On Wednesday my kiddos put on their science fair. Parents and co-workers were very impressed and I was proud of my kiddos. Most of them worked very hard and it showed! I must also add that I am very happy that this project is done. It is a long two months and although completely worth it, exhausting none the less. On Friday I left work early to FINALLY see a doctor. The office was swamped with people in face masks. I had asked Dr. Naylor if she had been busy with people worried about the flu and she said yes. I had to laugh. Anyway, she was able to see that I had quite the congestion in my lungs and sinuses. She was surprised that my ear did not hurt more due to the severe redness. I guess I must be used to them. In any case, she offered cough syrup with codine and I turned it down. Boy did I regret that when I went to bed. My cough sucks when I lay down. I feel like I am going to vomit my lungs. It is NOT fun. I did get antibiotics for my ears and I can feel the difference already. Thank goodness. Three weeks with this sickness is nuts. Today I was scrubbing everything down and getting the germs out. Yesterday was Nichole's daughter's birthday. Morgan turned 2! She was so cute. I was able to see lots of little kiddos again. I just love that. I was also able to see some of my favorite people and that always makes my day. We hung out at the house and then went over to the memorial spaghetti dinner for Katie. It was packed and that was so cool to see. They made so much money to put towards Madison's future. To see the community reach out like they do is just outstanding. : ) It was also yummy. Well, what I COULD taste was. Off to 2nd Street with the girls, and well their significant others. I was the sober DJ until Nichole came over. Who plays "End of the Road" at a bar when people want to drink and have fun?? She also played Ricky Martin's "Shake your bon-bon" and System of a Down, oh and the Monkey's theme song. She cracks me up. I returned to Keene to find Craig. Although I was hoping to celebrate his Keene State lacrosse win that night, they lost to Eastern 12-8. So no celebration. Instead we watched the Celts beat the Bulls!! : )Yessssss!!! Now time to get some school work done and continue scrubbing down this house. Have a great week! Love ya!!

Sweet Summerlike Vacation

Well here is the update. I just finished my April vacation. I decided to stick around Keene and get things done around the house, little did I know I would be sick for the entire thing! Icky. Well let's go back to when vacation started. I had organized and run my first pancake breakfast. We raised $200 for the animals at the Monadnock Humane Society. We had an alright turn-out. Everyone who came was super supportive and really enjoyed it. I was watching Jackson and Piper as we were holding a dog walk after, so they were super cute all day. They were excited to get out of my classroom and meet the dogs that came to walk. We walked 3 miles around Granite Lake. It was beautiful. The dogs and I loved it!! That same day I went to TF to celebrate Ava's 4th birthday. She was very cute and seeing everyone was wonderful, as always. Ava, Madison, and Morgan were all really cute together. It makes me want to have one of my own! We went to good ole 2 Street that night and Nichole had Kerri, Abbe, and I in stitches. She was so funny. I also supported the Walk for Cancer and won 2 tickets to Six Flags. This was pretty cool because on the Wednesday prior to going out I had called my mom to see if she might be able to get tickets donated again so that I could have them as a raffle prize at the school dance. She said she couldn't get them and that Saturday night I WON THEM! Weird. Ok, so back to the vacation. Come Sunday I was done. My throat really hurt and I was starting to get stuffy. I laid low. Monday was more of the same. I still tried to get up and do things around the house, but it just made me feel more lousy. I gave myself Tuesday to stay in bed a hopefully get better. I was in bed until 5:30 PM and I only got out of bed because I really needed to eat something. It was bad. I just had a bad cough, headache, and stuffy nose. I felt pretty good on Wednesday and cleaned around the house. On Thursday, I went with Tina and her little boy Sawyer to Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory in South Deerfield. He was very unsure of the butterflies at first, but really enjoyed them by the time we left. He had fun and so did I!! I love that place. I think my nephew Aidan would really get a kick out of it too! Friday was more laundry and housecleaning. Craig and I went out to eat at our favorite new pub called Harlow's. I got soup and a sandwich and COULD NOT TASTE A THING! My dumb stuffy nose. Saturday my mom came to help me garden. We took out the rock borders and made a nice garden across the front of the house. We also dug out a garden by the mailbox. We laid down mulch, picked up two hanging plants and it looks great! I am really excited to do more. I love being outside. Feeling a little better, Craig and I went out to see a cover band called In Glover at Vendetta in Keene. It was pretty good. We saw a few friends out and enjoyed the music. The night ended badly when I had to leave bed for the couch as I was coughing and blowing my nose constantly and keeping Craig awake. Yuck. He was off early to compete in a bike race in Ware, Ma. He went 70 miles around the Quabbin. I am so proud of him. He was up at 5:30 and I was awake too. So, around 9, back to bed and up at 11. I had to get over to school to get ready for the work week. Called Mom again to thank her for the help and she thinks I may have walking pnemonia because my lungs hurt so bad and I have been sick for two weeks. BLEH. Looks like work and the doctors tomorrow. So, I REALLY enjoyed having the week to let my body rest, but I am sad I was in bed most of the vacation. The weather was great and looks to continue into next week. Craig bought us Celtic's tickets to Game 5 on Tuesday night, so LOOK FOR US!!! I have photography club with the kiddos on Thursday and Keene State has a lacrosse playoff game that night. Happy Easter Weekend

So I continue to try Moby and it just won't work! Boo! It must be because Twitter is now the hottest thing since sliced bread. Mike I still give you props for showing me Twitter back in February of 2008. You knew what you were doing! :) Anyway, things are good but super busy. In the last Month I have organized two field trips for my kiddos. One was to the Ecotarium for 3-6 grade. I set-up the trip, planned our itinerary, organized chaperon es, and did all the paperwork for parents. The trip was pretty cool. We were able to see a polar bear which kiddos in Nelson have never seen, and they really enjoyed the weather tents and the otters. A BIG disappointment was the planetarium. We were ready to watch a cool show in the dome theater, but instead we saw 2 dimensional charts on the dome while our presenter stood in front of us and talked. She never showed anything more than a 5 minute clip of solar flares and solar storms and we were there for 45 minutes! BOO!! Our second field trip was a whole school trip that I organized to the Humane Society. The kiddos had been working on our school theme of "caring for animals" and also reading incentive. As their reward I though taking them to read to the pets at the humane society would be a nice way to bring everything together. The kiddos loved it. I had the Keene Sentinel come and they wrote up an article and took some great pictures. It was fun, but alot of work. In the works, I have scheduled a trip to the Boston Science Museum. We are going for an extended school day and we have a trip into the butterfly room and a Omni show on the coral reefs in store! I am contemplating adding the planetarium while we are there too, but they also need time to explore the museum!
Other school happenings include our puppetry performance where the kiddos made their own wooden puppets, decorated their sets, and practiced their scripts. We had a great puppet show for parents. My third graders did THREE BILLY GOATS GRUFF and my fourth graders did THE THREE LITTLE PIGS. It was cute. We are approaching the end of our science fair work. Currently the kiddos are working on their reports. We have some cool projects like a mini-hot air balloon, a hovercraft that a person can ride in, algae growth, toffee making, colored flowers, and many more. Well not many more, we only have 12 kids! It is coming along well, but takes alot of time management.
We had a school auction where we asked for donations from the community. Last Saturday night I helped get the dessert table and beverages ready to go and then I sat down with my paddle. It was pretty fun. I bid on a haircut, a book, and dog biscuits. I only spent $60, but $18 was for the darn dog biscuits! : ) It was a good cause though. We raised $6809. I think that is amazing. The kiddos will be getting a new slide put in this summer. Yahoo!! So..in the works is a Pancake Breakfast and Dog Walk that I am organizing at school to raise money for the Humane Society. The school has beautiful Granite Lake right next door, so we will be walking our pets around the lake. I hope the weather holds up for us. Also, for the 6th grade trip fundraiser, my students will be working on organizing a school dance at the Town Hall. It has been a hit every year, so we are looking forward to taking this on. Photography club starts on Thursday, so I will be working with a group of kiddos on how to take nice digital photos. I loved doing this last year! I think that is the big stuff at school.
As for things at home, well I am still dreaming of Katie almost every night. She stops in to my dreams to relive an experience that we shared, or to let me know that she is around. It is pretty cool to see her all the time! Craig and I are working on making our yard look nice. He raked most of the yard and we are excited about planting bulbs, flowers, and grass seed. We have had some great spring days, but for the most part it has been rainy and we haven't seen the last frost yet. I continue to hit the gym, although not as consistently as I had hoped I would. I am getting back into it, but it was hard for awhile. I am just really busy and get tuckered out!
Craig is graduating soon from Keene and he is job hunting. This is fun, but stressful at the same time. You know me, always want to know what is coming up. I like to plan and when we don't know what is coming, I can't plan. I signed up to work on science work again this summer and I hope to get away to someplace warm and tropical as well. I think this is all for now. It is not written well and that is ok. It is Saturday morning and I am watching Phantom Gourmet, so my focus goes from cupcakes to blog, to fried chicken to blog...you get the point. If you never heard of it Phantom Gourmet is a show that showcases restaurants all over the Boston area. It is pretty sweet, but very frustrating as you need to drive 2 hours to eat at anything they show!!! : )
Anyway, I am off to Turners for a surprise b-day party and then Easter dinner with the family on Sunday. Happy Easter!!

What's New

Well I have tried to post but have been very unsuccessful. For some reason my Moby site is not linking correctly and I cannot post pictures. I will try to work on that. Anyway, things are going well. I am very excited for February vacation that is coming up on Saturday. I am off to visit my brother, Sarah, and AJ in DE. I am so excited to spend time with them and to see how much my little nugget has changed! I am also trying to lose a few lbs. at the gym. Take a peek at my Nike Plus person on the right side of the blog. It will update my runs and if I do well, my little person will have a good amount of energy. If not, send me a message and tell me to get off my bum! Pretty fun and this might help my motivation. It certainly helps with Craig riding his bike everyday. : ) He is doing great. Well, that is all for now. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the last 35 or so days or winter. I can't wait for it to be over!! HELLO SPRING!! Anyway, love ya! xoxoxox
